Tip #3 Nutrition and Your Spine
1. WATER – the discs in the spine need water to be healthy, dehydration can lead to pre-mature degeneration. Drink 1/2 your weight in ounces each day.
2. SUPPLEMENTS – Calcium, Magnesium, Vitamin D3, K2, C and B12, Iron, Glucosamine, Chondroitin and Collagen – some of these are found in the foods below and some like K2, Iron, Glucosamine and Chondroitin are best found in supplements.
3. FOOD – green leafy vegetables, broccoli, fish (salmon), beans, seeds, nuts, whole grains, eggs, yogurt, avocados, bananas, dark chocolate, and almonds. Dr. Andy recommends lots of green foods, but he says that skittles, M&M’s and jelly beans don’t count:)
4. In addition, maintaining a healthy weight lightens spinal pressure (as well as other joints).
